About Me

Here are the questions I'd ask myself, if I was interviewing me.  To hear what other people would ask, listen to Paula B's podcast interview with me on The Writing Show, about how my writing has developed.

Which authors do you admire?
Whoa, straight in there with the heavy questions!  Barbara Kingsolver for the amazing amount of research she puts into her books, Meg Cabot for the incredible energy that comes across in her Princess books and Victor Hugo for making me cry (there aren't many authors who can do that).

When do you write?
I have a full-time job which I love and keeps me up to date with the world of work, allowing me to write topical business pieces.  But it doesn't leave much time for writing, so it tends to be evenings and weekends.  With a glass of French red.  And some chocolate.  You can't write without chocolate.

How long have you been writing for?
Should I include the stories I wrote when I was very young?  My first piece of 'proper' poetry was at the age of 8 and I won a local competition not long after that.  But non-fiction since my brief stint as editor of my university newspaper, and my first 'paid for' work in magazines appeared in 1997.
